Johnny Appleseed Day: Handprint Apple Tree
September 26 is Johnny Appleseed Day. Make this apple tree craft while you talk about the story of Johnny Appleseed. If you like this craft, check out our Seasonal Handprint Trees - another "hands-on" Fall craft.
What You’ll Need:
*White heavyweight paper
*Brown construction paper
*Talk about Johnny Appleseed. See the Suggested Resources link below for more information.
*Cut a tree trunk out of the brown paper. Glue to the white paper.
*Using the green paint, use handprints to make the leaves of the tree. (We recommend that you use a paintbrush to paint your child's hand, then have them press it on the paper.) Allow to dry.
*Cut apple shapes out of the red paper -- one for each member of your family. Write their names on the apples. Glue onto the tree.
*Send us a picture of your kids and their trees and we may post it to our site! firstname.lastname@example.org.
*Johnny Appleseed on Enchanted Learning: information and fun activities about Johnny Appleseed.
*Apple Prints Craft: use apples to make fun designs with this craft from My Activity Maker.
