Pencil Case Craft
Be ready for school with this felt pencil case. Don't have a sewing machine? That's OK -- we've got instructions for that, too. Dress up the pencils you put in your new case with our Painted Pencils craft
What You’ll Need:
*1 piece of 8 1/2 -11 sheet of felt
*2 in piece of elastic
*Sewing Machine OR large needle and yarn or embroidery floss
*Cut two strips of felt 2inches wide by 11 inches long.
*If your children will be using the needle and yarn/floss to sew up the sides of the pencil case you might want to poke some guide holes for them to make it easier.
*Stack the two pieces and starting halfway down, stitch down one side, along the bottom and halfway up the other side to create a pocket.
*At the top of the pocket, you have two flaps. Trim the front flap to where the stitches begin/end. The remaining flap will flip over the front to close the case, so leave it long.
*Form a loop with the elastic and stitch the ends to the edge of the flap. Flip the flap and elastic forward and make a small mark where the button needs to be on the front of the case to secure the elastic.
*Sew the button on.
*Send us a picture of your kids and their pencil cases and we may post it to our site! email@example.com.
